Different Avenues will be a part of this year's International Harm Reduction Association Conference which will be held this year in Barcelona, Spain from May 11th to May 15th, opening with a keynote speech by UN Special Rapporteur Paul Hunt. We will be presenting our community-based research. At the Conference we will be part of the International Sex Worker Rights Caucus. The Caucus has issued a statement on sex workers rights and harm reduction, available in English, Spanish and Russian!
Every year their conference attracts over 1,200 delegates from all over the world. Since the IHRA's first International Conference in 1990, the event has been held in various locations around the world and has become the focal point for knowledge sharing, networking and promoting evidence-based best practice in the field of harm reduction. The delegates include front line workers, researchers, policy makers, politicians, people from international organisations, people who use drugs and people working in criminal justice. These events have helped to put harm reduction on the map and to coordinate advances, innovations, evidence and advocacy in this field for the last two decades. |
