People interested in our services can access our programs in a variety of ways: talk to an outreach worker, call, email, or just drop by. Our offices include a comfortable drop-in center, where you can go for a safe space to spend time, and learn about and access services.
We offer comprehensive case management. Appointments are available during the week, with a flexible schedule. Case management includes individual counseling and referrals to agencies that can help.
We run weekly groups sessions based on the "No Labels" curriculum. Participants learn valuble skills, make friends, and realize that they are not 'the only one' confronting challenges and making changes. We have plenty of space for group meetings and long conversations. We now also offer free classes on a variety of subjects on an occasional basis.
We also conduct outreach every week, bringing safer sex supplies and information to people around DC. Additionally we sometimes have special events.
One group member, who graduated in September 2002, shares this thought: "The group structure is unique and positive. I really appreciate Different Avenues coming into my life. If I had not walked in here, I would not be where I am. I still have trials and tribulations to go through, but with the strength of the people here in the group, I am growing. I am able to talk to people on a regular basis, help people on a regular basis, and I know I am helping myself." |
