The "From the
Streets to the House" Project provides outreach to :
a) locales where commercial sex occurs that have previously been poorly
served
in terms of HIV prevention, treatment and care efforts (Locales include
strip
clubs, "Tourist Homes", nightclubs, and trick houses)
b) intensive street based outreach during the warmer months building
trust
with the highly mobile populations we server.
The program includes
onsite
services at the drop in center such as skills building groups and
individual
counseling.
In 2006 we develop media materials for use in the venues to support the women there to continue being peer educators by providing them with more tools and information. We have also gathered significant information via sureys, focus groups, and intensive interviews over the past months, developing what is likely the first research data available on some of the communities we work with.
