Community Testimony

The Mayor has introduced new legislation that could make the work of Different Avenues and similar organizations harder because it increases criminalization of people involved in sex work, people who are homeless, and others. Local organizations have formed an alliance, the Alliance for a Safe and Diverse DC, about the proposed legislation. Public hearings were held on the bills May 31, June 14, & June 30, 2005. Organizations and individuals from the Alliance presented testimony at the hearings. Presentations from the Alliance and friendly organizations are below.
